Sivan Ring

Sivan is an artist and second-generation potter from the Galilean village of Yodfat. Sivan’s love for ceramics as well as her wider appreciation of the Arts was initiated whilst growing up in a unique artist colony village called Ein Hod, perched on Mt. Carmel. Sivan’s childhood in such an inspiring community nurtured and instilled a deep desire to create, examine and discover the interaction of different materials.

Today, Sivan’s studio and that of her mother’s, Dalia Ben Meor – a renowned potter – overlook the ancient hilltop settlement of Tel Yodfat (Jotapata). This 2,000-year-old Jewish village, that modern Yodfat is named after, would in the year 67 AD become a pivotal siege and battle in the documented life of the First Century AD historian and writer Josephus Flavius. Throughout history the men, women and children that called Yodfat their home would have always utilized pottery in their daily life. As a silent testimony of these ancient Galilean footsteps, a short walk on the ancient hilltop will reveal a seemingly endless amount of beautiful pottery shards that are the scattered relics of 2,000 years of history.

If you ask Sivan what is the source of inspiration for her life of art and creativity, her response is “Life itself!”. A life of constant learning and consistent practice in a variety of fields such as singing, music, philosophy and religion. This and the conscious choice to live in the village Yodfat, surrounded by nature, are all means to reach an inner peace that allows for creativity.

Secret Gallery Galilee is delighted to present Sivan’s beautiful hand-made ceramics. What better way to bring the essence and flavors of Galilee to your home than our specially designed olive oil vessel with dish and olive bowl with pip dish that will grace any table.
